New Lab Openings
MS in Biology
I am recruiting a student interested in plant-insect interactions for species found in Puerto Rico. This is a data-driven project and ideal for someone interested in expanding their data science skills (no prior programming experience necessary). Questions that could be addressed include: network structure of various taxonomic and functional groups (pollinators, specialists, introduced species) or across contrasting environments (wet forest vs. dry forest).
Students interested in the Master’s program in Biology should apply by 15 January.
PhD in Integrative Life Sciences
We have one position available for a student interested in plant functional ecology and trait variance across spatial and temporal scales using a combination of publicly available data (NEON, FIA, etc.) and field-collected data across our sampling sites in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, and Virginia. Funding is available for travel, research supplies, summer research stipends, and research and teaching assistantships during the academic year.
Students interested in the PhD program should apply to the Integrative Life Sciences Program by 10 January.
Undergraduate Students & Postdocs
Undergraduates: I am not currently recruiting undergraduate students but if you are interested in working with us, contact me.
Postdocs: I am happy to co-develop proposals to support postdoctoral researchers in our lab. Options include NEON’s Postdoctoral Fellow Program or NSF’s Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Biology - Broadening Participation of Groups Underrepresented in Biology to work on testing ecological theories related to plant trait variation and climatic variability. Contact me about other opportunities.
