This may not be the right fit if you: want daily in-person supervision, or need a fully defined project on day one.
When recruiting new lab members, I look for interesting perspectives, creative ideas, internal drive, and problem-solving skills over grades or past accomplishments. We work as a distributed team, so lab members need to be comfortable setting their own direction between check-ins. I am always looking for scrappy students who know their way around obstacles (#rasquachismo).

The Biodiversity Research Laboratory
The Biodiversity Research Laboratory is located in the School of Life Sciences & Sustainability at Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, Virginia.
Fieldwork takes us to dry and wet forests across Puerto Rico and Costa Rica's Área de Conservación Guanacaste.
VCU is located on the historic James River within easy reach of the Appalachian Mountains, the Virginia LTER and NEON sites, and other resources in the D.C. area like the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History and Conservation International.
